Valve Lifter Replacement for Cadillac Catera 2000

1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
2. Remove the intake plenum. Refer to Intake Plenum Replacement .
3. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .
4. Remove the relevant valve cover. Refer to Camshaft Cover Replacement .
5. Remove the intake air resonator. Refer to Intake Air Resonator Replacement in Engine Controls.
6. Remove the front timing belt cover. Refer to Timing Belt Cover Replacement .
7. Remove the timing belt. Refer to Timing Belt Replacement .
8. Remove the relevant camshaft sprockets. Refer to Camshaft Drive Sprocket Replacement .
9. Remove the relevant camshafts. Refer to Camshaft Replacement .



10. Remove the lifters (1). Place the lifters in a rack sequentially so they can be reinstalled in their original order if the lifters is to be reused.

1. Lubricate the lifters (1) with prelube, GM P/N 12345501 or equivalent.
2. Install the lifters in their original position if not replaced.
3. Install the relevant camshafts. Refer to Camshaft Replacement .
4. Install the relevant camshaft sprockets. Refer to Camshaft Drive Sprocket Replacement .
5. Install the timing belt. Refer to Timing Belt Replacement .
6. Install the front timing belt cover. Refer to Timing Belt Cover Replacement .
7. Install the intake air resonator. Refer to Intake Air Resonator Replacement in Engine Controls.
8. Install the relevant valve cover. Refer to Camshaft Cover Replacement .
9. Install the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .
10. Install the intake plenum. Refer to Intake Plenum Replacement .
11. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
