The PCM has the capability of diagnosing a malfunction within the controller. If the PCM detects a malfunction within the controller, DTC P0606 will set.
| • | DTC P0601, or DTC P0604 is not set. | 
| • | The ignition is ON. | 
The PCM detects an internal performance problem within the controller.
| • | The PCM will illuminate the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) the first time the malfunction is detected. | 
| • | The PCM will store conditions which were present when the DTC set as Freeze Frame/Failure Records data. |
