Did you review the Wiper/Washer System Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Go to Step 2

Go to Symptoms - Wiper/Washer Systems

1. Turn ON the igntion, with the engine OFF.
2. Activate the windshield washer switch.

Does the windshield washer operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

1. Set the wiper switch to LO.
2. Disconnect wiper motor harness connector.
3. Connect a test lamp from wiper motor connector (harness side) windshield wiper switch signal 1 circuit to ground.
4. Momentarily activate the washer switch while observing the test lamp.

Does the test lamp stay illuminated when the washer switch is released?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 5

Replace the wiper/washer switch. Refer to Windshield Wiper and Washer Switch Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column - Tilt.

Is the replacement complete?

Go to Step 6

Replace the wiper motor cover. Refer to Wiper Motor Cover Replacement .

Is the replacement complete?

Go to Step 6

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
