Cooling System
Tools Required
|     •  | J 24460-01 Universal
Cooling System and Cap Pressure Tester |

|     •  | J 42401 Cooling
 System Tester Adapter |

Notice: Pressure above 139 kPa (20psi) should not be used when pressure
testing the cooling system. Pressures over 138 kPa (20) psi will damage the
radiator.
- Inspect the connections for leaks.

- Repair the connections as required.

- Remove the surge tank cap.

- Attach the J 42401
 and the J 24460-01
 to the surge tank.

Follow the instructions supplied with the J 24460-01
.
- Build up the pressure to no more than 138 kpa (20 psi).

- The system should hold the pressure for about 2 minutes.

| •  | If a measurable amount of pressure drops in less than 2 minutes,
inspect the system for a leak. |

| •  | Mark the leaking area. Remove and replace the component if necessary. |

Cooling System Filler Cap

|     •  | J 24460-01 Universal
Cooling System and Cap Pressure Tester |

|     •  | J 42401 Cooling
 System Tester Adapter |

- Inspect the hose connections for leaks.

- Inspect the surge tank cap. Use the J 24460-01
and the J 42401
in order to test the cap for the rated pressure. Replace the surge
tank cap if the cap will not hold pressure.

- Inspect for damage or debris on the gasket in the cap and the
inner sealing surface of the filler neck.

- Ensure that the correct cap is being used.
