For 1990-2009 cars only
- Raise the front end of the vehicle off the ground until the tires and the wheels turn freely.
- Remove the fluid return hose at the power steering pump inlet connector.
- Plug the inlet connector port on the pump.
- Place a large container under the fluid return hose in order to catch the draining fluid.
- Run the engine at idle while an assistant fills the reservoir with new power steering fluid.
- Turn the wheel back and forth, fully to the left and fully to the right.
- Install all of the pipes and hoses.
- Fill the system with new power steering fluid and bleed the system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
- Operate the engine for approximately 15 minutes.
- Remove the pump return hose at the pump outlet and plug the connection on the pump.
- Refill the reservoir and check the draining fluid for contamination.
- Disassemble and clean the power steering components, or replace the components as necessary.
Do not hold the wheel at a stop or a sudden overflow from the fluid reservoir may occur.
If foreign material is still found, replace all of the hoses. Refer to Power Steering Hoses Replacement .
Do not reuse any drained power steering fluid.
