Air Conditioning Evaporator Core Replacement for GMC Truck Yukon XL - 4WD 2000
Removal Procedure
- Drain the engine coolant. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
in Engine Cooling.
- Recover the refrigerant. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Remove the heater/vent module. Refer to
Heater/Vent Module Replacement
.
- Remove the HVAC module screws.
- Separate the HVAC module.
- Remove
the evaporator core.
Installation Procedure
- Install
the evaporator core.
- Install the HVAC module halves.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the HVAC module screws.
Tighten
Tighten the HVAC module screws to 1.6 N·m
(14 lb in).
- Install the heater/vent module. Refer to
Heater/Vent Module Replacement

- Refill the engine coolant. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
.
- Recharge the A/C system. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
