Inspect for contaminated lubricant. Refer to Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations in Maintenance and Lubrication.

Is the rear axle lubricant contaminated?

1. Drain the lubricant while hot.
2. Wipe the axle housing clean.
3. Refill with the specified lubricant. Refer to Lubrication Specifications .

Does the locking rear axle still chatter in turns?

1. Inspect the clutch plates for deterioration. Refer to Locking Differential Disassemble .
2. Inspect for damaged or worn parts.
3. Replace parts as necessary.
