Engine Flywheel Replacement for Oldsmobile Alero 2002
Removal Procedure
- Remove the transmission. Refer to
Transmission Replacement
in Automatic Transaxle-4T40-E/4T45-E.
- Remove the flywheel attaching bolts. Use
a suitable tool in order to prevent crankshaft rotation.
- Remove the flywheel spacer.
- Remove the flywheel.
- Clean the flywheel bolt threads and the bolt holes.
Installation Procedure
- Apply thread locker to all of the flywheel bolts. Use GM P/N United
States 12345382, GM P/N Canada 10953489 or an equivalent.
- Install the flywheel.
- Install the flywheel spacer.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the flywheel bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 71 N·m (52 lb ft).
