Caution:  When a hood hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.

Preliminary Procedures

1. Remove the liftgate trim finish panel. Refer to Liftgate Trim Finish Panel Replacement.
2. Release the liftgate strut to liftgate, if necessary. Refer to LINK.
3. Release the luggage shade strap to liftgate, if necessary. Refer to Luggage Shade Strap Replacement.

Liftgate Fastener (Qty: 4)

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Procedure

1. Disconnect the electrical connector.
2. Release retainer electrical cable harness.
3. Disconnect the rear window washer nozzle hose.
4. Pull the liftgate wiring grommet, the connectors, and the rear washer hose out of the liftgate.
5. Mark the location of the liftgate hinges to the body with a grease pencil.

Tighten
22 N·m (16 lb ft)

Liftgate

Procedure

1. With the aid of an assistant, remove the liftgate from the vehicle.
2. Transfer components as necessary.
3. Adjust liftgate as needed.
