Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Disable the SIR System. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling in SIR.
  2. Remove the steering wheel inflatable restraint module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement in SIR.

    3. Object Number: 1228526 Size: SH
  3. Remove the bolts (1) from the steering wheel cover and lift the steering wheel cover from the steering wheel.
  4. Remove the steering wheel radio controls (2) from the steering wheel cover.
  5. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the radio control switches.

    6. Object Number: 1228531 Size: SH
  6. Remove the screws (1) from the A/T tap shift switches, if equipped.
  7. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  8. Remove the tap shift switches (2).

Installation procedure

    Object Number: 1228531 Size: SH
  1. Install the A/T tap shift switches (2).
  2. Connect the electrical connectors.

    3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the screws (1) to the tap shift switches.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 3.5 N·m (31 lb in).

  4. Connect the electrical connectors to the radio control switches.
  5. Install the steering wheel radio controls (2) to the steering wheel cover.
  6. Position the steering wheel cover to the steering wheel. Install the bolts (1) to the steering wheel cover.

    7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 3.5 N·m (31 lb in).

  7. Install the steering wheel inflatable restraint module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement in SIR.
  8. Enable the SIR System. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling in SIR.
