| Subject: | Rattle Noise In Floor Shifter (Bind Shift Control To Outer Bezel Trim Ring) |
| Models: | 2006-2007 Pontiac Solstice |
| with Automatic Transmission |
Condition
Some customers may comment on a rattle in the area of the shifter.
Cause
This condition may be caused by a tolerance fit between the shifter controller and the bezel trim ring.
Correction
Apply Instant GM Gel Adhesive to the retainer tabs following the procedure below.
- Lift up the lower edge of the instrument panel cluster trim plate assembly just enough to reach a finger underneath. This will release the shifter bezel retaining tabs from the instrument panel cluster trim plate assembly.
- Lift up on the assembly to gain access to the four tabs.
- Place a shop rag on the console to protect the console from adhesive spillage.
- Apply GM Instant Gel Adhesive to the four small windows in the bezel trim ring where the snap tabs of the shifter controller plate are joined together.
Important: Allow the adhesive to dry according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- Reinstall the bezel trim ring back into the console. First insert the tab on the ring at the 6 o'clock position and then slowly apply pressure around the circumference of the bezel. Do not apply a slam load to the center of the bezel or it may damage the
chrome.
