Removal Procedure
- Block the wheels.
- Drain all of the air reservoirs. Refer to
Draining Reservoirs
- Lift the inner fender panel. Refer to
Wheelhouse Panel Replacement
in Body Front End.
- Mark the air lines and connections in order to aid in the installation
procedure.
- Remove the wiring harness connector from the stoplamp switch.
- Remove the air lines from the dual application
valve. Refer to
Hose and Line Replacement - Nylon and Metal Compression
.
A double check valve and line fittings are attached to the dual application
valve. These may be removed from the dual application valve or taken out with
the dual application valve as an assembly.
- Remove the dual application valve mounting bolts.
- Remove the dual application valve.
- Inspect the air lines for damage kinks or wear. Repair or replace
the air lines as necessary.
Installation Procedure
- Install the dual application valve.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the dual application valve mounting bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the dual application mounting valves to 40 N·m
(29 lb ft).
- Install the air lines to the dual application
valve. Refer to
Hose and Line Replacement - Nylon and Metal Compression
.
- Check the brake pedal end play. Refer to
Air Brake Pedal Replacement
.
- Perform the air leakage test. Refer to
Air Brake Application Valve Operational Check
.
- Perform the operational test. Refer to
Air Brake Application Valve Leakage Test
