Did you review the exterior lighting description and operation and perform the necessary inspections?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Observe the stop lamps.

Are the stop lamps OFF?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Remove the stop lamps relay.

Do the stop lamps remain illuminated?

Go to Step 4

Disconnect the turn signal switch.

Do the stop lamps remain illuminated?

Go to Step 14

Probe the stop lamp switch signal circuit of the stop lamps relay with a test lamp that is connected to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Leave the test lamp connected.
