Did you review the dome lamp description and operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Go to Symptoms - Lighting Systems

Place the I/P lamps dimmer switch in the dome lamp ON position.

Does the dome lamp illuminate?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

1. Disconnect the I/P lamps dimmer switch.
2. Probe the courtesy lamp low control circuit of the IP lamps dimmer switch with a test lamp that is connected to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 4

1. Disconnect the dome lamp harness connector.
2. Probe the battery positive voltage circuit of the dome lamp harness connector with a test lamp that is connected to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 10

1. Disconnect the door jamb switch.
2. Probe the courtesy lamp low control circuit of the door jamb switch connector with a test lamp that is connected to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 7

Test the ground circuit of the I/P lamps dimmer switch/door jamb switch for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 13

Test the courtesy lamp low control circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the appropriate switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the dome lamp. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Repair an open, high resistance, or short to ground in the battery positive voltage circuit of the dome lamp. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Replace the appropriate switch. Refer to Front Side Door Jamb Switch Replacement , or Headlamp Switch Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Replace the dome lamp. Refer to Dome Lamp Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 13

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
