  1. Turn the ignition ON.
  2. Operate the windshield wiper/washer switch to the OFF position.

Are the windshield wipers always on?

Go to Step 3

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Using a test lamp connected to ground backprobe the windshield wiper motor park switch control circuit terminal in the windshield wiper/washer switch connector.
  2. Turn the ignition ON.
  3. Operate the windshield wiper/washer switch to the HI position.

Is the test lamp off when the wiper arms are in the park position?

Go to Step 5

Test the windshield wiper motor park switch signal circuit for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 10

Test the windshield wiper motor high speed and windshield wiper switch signal 1 circuits for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the windshield wiper motor. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the windshield wiper motor. Refer to Windshield Wiper Motor Replacement .

Inspect for poor connections at the windshield wiper/washer switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the windshield wiper/washer switch. Refer to Turn Signal Multifunction Switch Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.

  1. Disconnect the windshield wiper motor connector.
  2. Test the windshield wiper switch signal 1 circuit for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Replace the windshield wiper motor module. Refer to Windshield Wiper System Module Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Test the windshield wiper switch signal 1 circuit in the steering column harness for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Replace the windshield wiper/washer switch. Refer to Turn Signal Multifunction Switch Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
