Turn the ignition ON.

Are the windshield washers always on?

Go to Step 3

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Disconnect the windshield wiper/washer switch connector.

Are the windshield washers always on?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 5

Repair the short to voltage in the windshield washer pump control circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 6

Replace the windshield wiper/washer switch. Refer to Turn Signal Multifunction Switch Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.

Is the repair complete?

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

  2. Turn the ignition ON.

  1. Disconnect the windshield wiper motor connector.
  2. Turn the ignition ON.

Are the windshield washers always on?

Go to Step 6

Test the windshield wiper switch signal 1 circuit for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 10

Repair the windshield washer pump control circuit for a short to voltage. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 10

Test the windshield wiper switch signal 1 circuit in the steering column harness for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 10

Replace the windshield wiper/washer switch. Refer to Turn Signal Multifunction Switch Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.

Is the repair complete?

Replace the windshield wiper motor module. Refer to Windshield Wiper System Module Replacement .
