Removal Procedure

The striker bolt is a special bolt and washer assembly that mounts on the door opening's rear pillar. The bolt passes through a hole into a threaded plate behind the pillar. The cab door is secured in position when the locking cam (arm) of the lock mechanism engages and snaps around the striker bolt. The striker bolt position is not adjustable.

    Notice: Striker alignment is a crucial part of door latch operation. Do not use the door striker to adjust the door to the vehicle. Failure to properly adjust the striker can result in damage to the door latch and the striker.

  1. Mark the position of the striker bolt washer (2) on the door pillar.
  2. Remove the striker bolt (3). Use the J 29843-9 .

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the striker bolt (3) and washer into the door pillar.
  2. Align the washer with the previously made mark.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Tighten the striker bolt.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
