1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
2. Turn ON the radio.

Does the radio operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

1. Turn OFF the ignition.
2. Disconnect the radio.
3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
4. Measure the voltage from the accessory voltage circuit of the radio to a good ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Does the voltage measure near the specified value?

12 V

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 5

Test the ground circuit of the radio for high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the accessory voltage circuit of the radio for a short to ground or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

1. Remove the access relay.
2. Test the battery positive voltage circuit of the access relay for a short to ground or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the accessory voltage input circuit of the access relay for a short to ground or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the ground circuit of the access relay for high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
