Removal Procedure
- Block the vehicle wheels.
- Release the brake.
- Position a drain pan in order to catch any fluid that will leak out.
- Loosen the jam nut on the actuator end of the cable.
- Remove the 2-piece cable end fitting.
- Remove the travel switch electrical connector.
- Remove the hydraulic pipe and cap the pipe.
- Remove the actuator mounting nuts and the washers.
- Remove the actuator.
- Remove the travel switch from the actuator.
Do not reuse the old fluid.
Installation Procedure
- Install the travel switch to the actuator.
- Install the actuator.
- Install the actuator mounting nuts and washers.
- Install the hydraulic pipe.
- Install the travel switch electrical connector.
- Install the parking brake cable end fitting.
- Cycle the system.
- Check the system for any leaks.
- Check the fluid level. Refer to Checking and Adding Park Brake Fluid .
- Remove the wheel blocks.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the travel switch to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).
Tighten
Tighten the actuator mounting nuts to 108 N·m (80 lb ft).
Tighten
Tighten the hydraulic pipe fitting to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).
Tighten
Tighten the parking brake cable jam nut to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).
