Removal Procedure
- Remove the transmission.
Refer to
Transmission Replacement
in
Manual Transmission - Medium Duty.
- If equipped with the 8.1L engine, with regular production options
(RPOs) MM7/MPJ/MWX, remove the clutch fork and release bearing.
- If equipped with RPO MWW
without MXD, remove the release bearing.
- If equipped with RPOs
MWW and MXD, remove the release bearing and lub hose.
- Remove the lub hose from the release bearing, if necessary.
Installation Procedure
- Remove the release bearing
fitting (5) from the new release bearing, if necessary.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the lub hose (1) to the release bearing, if necessary.
Tighten
Tighten the lub hose to 13 N·m (115 lb in).
- Install the release bearing fitting (5) to the lub hose, if necessary.
Tighten
Tighten the release bearing fitting to 13 N·m (115 lb in).
- If equipped with RPOs MWW and MXD, install the release bearing
and lub hose.
- Apply lubricant GM P/N 12378484
or equivalent to the release bearing (1).
- If equipped with RPO MWW without MXD, install the release bearing.
- Apply lubricant GM P/N 12378484
or equivalent to the release bearing (1).
- If equipped with the 8.1L engine with RPOs MM7/MPJ/MWX, install
the clutch fork and release bearing.
- Install the transmission. Refer to
Transmission Replacement
in Manual Transmission - Medium Duty.
