Removal Procedure
- Remove the floor air outlet. Refer to
Floor Air Outlet Replacement
.
- Roll back the instrument panel. Refer to
Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
- Remove the clips holding the air distribution case to the heater
case.
- Remove the clips holding the case halves together.
- Separate the air distribution
case (16) from the blower case (8).
- Remove the top half of the air distribution case from the vehicle.
- Remove the mode actuator screws.
- Remove the mode actuator.
- Remove the defrost door from the HVAC module.
Installation Procedure
- Install the defrost door
into the HVAC module.
- Install the mode actuator.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the mode
actuator screws.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
- Install the top half of the air distribution case into the vehicle.
- Align the air distribution case (16) to the blower case (8).
- Install the case clips.
- Install the clips holding the air distribution case to the heater
case.
- Roll the instrument panel forward. Refer to
Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
- Install the floor air outlet. Refer to
Floor Air Outlet Replacement
.
