Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 792167 Size: SH
  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle, if required. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. If equipped with the 1.75 inch or 1.5 inch pilot shaft spline, remove the clutch fork return spring.

    3. Object Number: 792170 Size: SH
  3. If equipped with the 6.6L or 7.2L engine, and RPOs M69/MK8/MK9, and a 1.75 inch pilot shaft spline, remove the clutch fork return spring.

    4. Object Number: 792042 Size: SH
  4. If equipped with the 7.2L engine, and RPOs MS9/MT3, remove the clutch pedal adjustment rod swivel retainer (1).
  5. Remove the clutch pedal adjustment rod swivel (5) from the lever.
  6. Remove the clutch cable retainer (2).
  7. Remove the clutch cable nuts (3), washers (4), and swivel (5) from the cable.

  8. If equipped with the 8.1L engine, and RPOs MM7/MNC/MPU/MSC/MSG, and the 13 inch clutch, remove the clutch cable retainer nuts (2).
  9. Remove the clutch cable swivel (1) from the cable.
  10. Remove the clutch cable retainer (3).
  11. Remove the clutch cable from the clutch fork.

  12. If equipped with the 6.6L engine, and RPOs MK8/MK9, and the 14 inch clutch, and the 1.75 inch pilot shaft spline, remove the clutch pedal adjustment rod swivel retainer (1).
  13. Remove the clutch pedal adjustment rod swivel (5) from the lever.
  14. Remove the clutch cable retainer (2).
  15. Remove the clutch cable nuts (3), washers (4), and swivel (5) from the cable.

  16. If equipped with the 6.6L or 7.2L engine, and RPOs MK0/ML0/MNC/MPU, and the 1.75 inch pilot shaft spline, remove the clutch pedal adjustment rod swivel retainer (3).
  17. Remove the clutch pedal adjustment rod swivel (1) from the lever.
  18. Remove the clutch cable retainer (2).
  19. Remove the clutch cable nuts (4), washers (5), and swivel (1) from the cable.
  20. Remove the clutch cable from the bracket.
  21. Reposition the clutch cable out of the way.

  22. If equipped with the 7.2L engine, and RPOs MS9/MT3, remove the clutch cable bracket bolts and washers.
  23. Remove the clutch cable bracket from the transmission support.

  24. If equipped with the 8.1L engine, and RPOs MM7/MNC/MPU/MSC/MSG, and the 13 inch clutch, remove the clutch cable bracket bolts and washers.

  25. If equipped with the 6.6L engine, and RPOs MK8/MK9, and the 14 inch clutch, and the 1.75 inch pilot shaft spline, remove the clutch cable bracket bolts.

  26. If equipped with the 6.6L or 7.2L engine, and RPOs MK0/ML0/MNC/MPU, and the 1.75 inch pilot shaft spline, remove the clutch cable bracket bolts and washers.
  27. Remove the clutch cable bracket from the transmission.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 793699 Size: SH
  1. Position the clutch cable bracket to the transmission.

    2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  2. If equipped with the 6.6L or 7.2L engine, and RPOs MK0/ML0/MNC/MPU, and the 1.75 inch pilot shaft spline, install the clutch cable bracket bolts and washers.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the clutch cable bracket bolts to 93 N·m (69 lb ft).

  3. If equipped with the 6.6L engine, and RPOs MK8/MK9, and the 14 inch clutch, and the 1.75 inch pilot shaft spline, install the clutch cable bracket bolts.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the clutch cable bracket bolts to 36 N·m (27 lb ft).

  4. If equipped with the 8.1L engine, and RPOs MM7/MNC/MPU/MSC/MSG, and the 13 inch clutch, install the clutch cable bracket bolts and washers.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the clutch cable bracket bolts to 93 N·m (69 lb ft).

  5. If equipped with the 7.2L engine, and RPOs MS9/MT3, install the clutch cable bracket to the transmission support.
  6. Install the clutch cable bracket bolts and washers.

    7. Tighten
    Tighten the clutch cable bracket nuts to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).

  7. Route the clutch cable through bracket.

  8. Install the clutch cable retainer (2).
  9. If equipped with the 6.6L or 7.2L engine, and RPOs MK0/ML0/MNC/MPU, and the 1.75 inch pilot shaft spline, install the clutch cable swivel (1), washers (5), and nuts (4) to the cable.
  10. Install the clutch pedal adjustment rod swivel (1) to the lever.
  11. Install the clutch pedal adjustment rod swivel retainer (3).

  12. Install the clutch cable retainer (2).
  13. If equipped with the 6.6L engine, and RPOs MK8/MK9, and the 14 inch clutch, and the 1.75 inch pilot shaft spline, install the clutch cable swivel (5), washers (4), and nuts (3) to the cable.
  14. Install the clutch pedal adjustment rod swivel (5) to the lever.
  15. Install the clutch pedal adjustment rod swivel retainer (1).

  16. Route the clutch cable through the clutch fork.
  17. Install the clutch cable retainer (3).
  18. If equipped with the 8.1L engine, and RPOs MM7/MNC/MPU/MSC/MSG, and the 13 inch clutch, install the clutch cable swivel (1) to the cable.
  19. Install the clutch cable retainer nuts (2).

  20. Install the clutch cable retainer (2).
  21. If equipped with the 7.2L engine, and RPOs MS9/MT3, install the clutch cable swivel (5), washers (4), and nuts (3) to the cable.
  22. Install the clutch pedal adjustment rod swivel (5) to the lever.
  23. Install the clutch pedal adjustment rod swivel retainer (1).

  24. If equipped with the 6.6L or 7.2L engine, and RPOs M69/MK8/MK9, and the 1.75 inch pilot shaft spline, install the clutch fork return spring.

    25. Object Number: 792167 Size: SH
  25. If equipped with the 1.75 inch or 1.5 inch pilot shaft spline, install the clutch fork return spring.
  26. Adjust the clutch cable. Refer to Clutch Pedal Free Travel Adjustment .
  27. Lower the vehicle, if required.
