Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Retained Accessory Power (RAP)?

Go to Step 2

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Retained Accessory Power

2

Test the following circuits of the body control module (BCM) for an open or a short to ground:

    • The battery input voltage
    • The ignition input voltage
    • The ignition output voltage

Refer to the following:

    •  Body Control System Schematics in Body Control Systems
    •  Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems
    •  Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems

Did you find and correct condition?

Go to Step 10

Go to Step 3

3

  1. Connect a scan tool.
  2. With the scan tool, observe all door jamb switches.
  3. Open and close each door.

Does the scan tool display a change from Closed to Open?

Go to Step 4

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Lighting Systems in Lighting Systems

4

  1. With all the doors closed, turn the ignition ON with the engine OFF.
  2. Turn the ignition OFF.
  3. Attempt to operate the Radio and power windows during the 10 minute RAP time period.

Do the power windows and radio function during the RAP time period?

Go to Step 10

Go to Step 5

5

  1. Remove the ACC relay.
  2. Using a test light, check the battery voltage feed circuits to the ACC relay, at the ACC relay socket.
  3. Check for an open circuit from the ACC relay contact and an appropriate accessory fuse.
  4. Remove the harness connector from the BCM that contains the low side drive circuit for the ACC relay control.
  5. Test for an open in the ACC relay control circuit from the BCM harness connector to the ACC relay socket.

Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct any of the above possible malfunctions?

Go to Step 10

Go to Step 6

6

  1. Reconnect the BCM harness connector.
  2. With all doors closed, turn the ignition ON with the engine OFF.
  3. Turn the ignition OFF.
  4. Using a test light check for voltage across the ACC relays control circuit at the socket.

Does the test light illuminate?

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 8

7

Replace the ACC relay.

Is the replacement complete?

Go to Step 10

--

8

Inspect for poor connections or terminal damage at the BCM. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 10

Go to Step 9

9

Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 10

10

  1. With all doors closed, turn the ignition ON with the engine OFF.
  2. Turn the ignition OFF.
  3. Attempt to operate the power windows and the radio during the 10 minute RAP time period.

Do the power windows and the radio function during the RAP power mode?

System OK
